Cylinder Heads

The cylinder heads on the 7.3L Powerstroke diesel engine (1994–2003) play a key role in engine performance. They house the valves, valve springs, and other valvetrain components. Made from cast iron, the heads offer strength and heat resistance for heavy-duty use. Their design supports strong airflow into and out of the combustion chambers, boosting fuel burn and efficiency.

These heads include direct injection ports for accurate fuel delivery. They’re built to handle the pressure and heat of turbocharged, high-torque setups. Over time, they can crack, especially under high boost or extreme heat. Regular checks help catch problems early. Proper head gasket fitment and torque are critical to avoid leaks and keep compression in check.
