Cylinder Heads

The 2006–2007 6.6L Duramax Cylinder Heads. They are strong, lightweight, and built to handle high heat and pressure from the turbocharged diesel engine. Each head has four valves per cylinder—two intake and two exhaust—for a total of 32 valves in the V8.

Duramax Cylinder Heads- The LBZ uses an overhead valve (OHV) setup with pushrods and rocker arms to run the valvetrain. These heads flow air slightly better than earlier versions, which helps performance and efficiency.

They are reliable in stock and mildly tuned setups. Common OEM casting numbers include “972” and “980.” The design holds up well under high combustion pressure, making it a solid choice for towing or performance builds.
