Cylinder Heads
The 6.6L LB7 Duramax cylinder heads (2001–2004) use cast aluminum and an overhead valve design with four valves per cylinder, totaling 32. The LB7 mounts its injectors under the valve covers, a setup unique to this model. These heads lack emissions features like EGR, making them simpler than later versions. Overheating can cause warping, and injector cup leaks are a known issue. You can choose OEM, remanufactured, or performance heads based on your build needs.
